Biography

Katrina PedersenKatrina grew up in Northern California and has played the piano since she was three years old. She continually frustrated her piano teachers since she played mostly by ear. Katrina is the youngest of 5 children. Her parents valued the importance of music in the home so from an early age piano lessons were part of a weekly routine. Later on, organ lessons were added, which meant Katrina and her sisters would rotate with each other playing the organ for their church services. Music wasn't the only important area in Katrina's life growing up. Her parents instilled in all of her siblings the importance of hard work and lots of fun. Weekly snow-skiing trips and water skiing outings are some of the fondest memories she has with her family.

Tamar PedersenTamar grew up in Northern Virginia and participated in the church choir from a young age. Tamar is the oldest of 11 children. Tamar completed two weeks of piano lessons, long enough to learn to play "Hot Crossed Buns"! Luckily he met Katrina and she was able to take over that talent for him. Tamar not only enjoys all kinds of music but he has a great love for the outdoors. In his spare time, he loves to play ultimate Frisbee and is quite proud of the fact that he can still compete with the High school and college age kids on the field. He also enjoys splitting firewood to help keep their house warm on those cold winter days.

It wasn't until Tamar and Katrina had been married for a few years, that Tamar was invited to sing a solo in church. Neither of the two were aware of the gift God had given to Tamar. Katrina had never heard Tamar sing so she was mortified when he accepted the invitation. Tamar believed it was good to get outside his comfort zone. They have received numerous invitations to perform together ever since.

After years of performing other artist's music, Tamar and Katrina felt moved to start writing their own music. Tamar wakes up in the middle of the night with new themes running through his mind, and works on songs while driving down the road in the car, with lyrics scratched on the back of the last gas receipt. When he gets home, Katrina listens to Tamar's ideas, and then using her gift of playing by ear, is able to pull together full orchestrations that complement the melody. It takes both of their talents together for a song to come to life.

"We thank God everyday for the gift of music he has given us, and that he allowed us to find each other."

Katrina and Tamar are evidence that opposites attract. Tamar tends to be more quiet and introverted. He enjoys time alone, working in the garden or writing a song.

Katrina is a party animal! When she walks into the room, all eyes are on her. Tamar thinks he tends to be conservative and reserved.

Katrina is a firecracker! Tamar likes spicy foods with exotic flavors, and will eat all types of cuisine. Katrina likes plain old meat and potatoes, and always orders the same thing on the menu. When they got married, they both got what they were looking for.

"She is the other half of me, and I am the other half of her. We are each other's complement. She completes me."

It seems whenever something good is about to happen, the powers of darkness try to prevent it. The Pedersens have had many trials and challenges, over the last couple of years, that could have derailed them, but they feel the Lord has pulled them through. They have turned their battles over to him, and are focusing on music that will bring Him glory.

"Whenever the adversary tries to get us down, we write another song about God. Sooner or later he will figure out he is only hurting his own cause. For now, we will keep fighting the Good Fight!"

The PedersonsTamar and Katrina have been blessed with four children. Their songs come from experiences they have had in their life together and many of their songs are based on experiences they have had with their children.

Natasha is their oldest daughter. She was the inspiration behind "Arthur's Song." Natasha met Arthur when she was 4 years old. He will always hold a special place in her heart.

Kjarom is the second child. Kjarom was adopted when he was just 4 months old. He certainly brought life and energy into the Pedersen's home. He was the inspiration behind "Rebel With A Cause." Kjarom has been a great inspiration to a lot of people as he has been able to stand up and be a rebel with a cause.

Nadja, their third child was the inspiration behind the song, "Nadja's Song" and "In That Day". She also helped Tamar out by singing the voice of the Little Match Girl.

Kjarsten, their youngest child, was also adopted when he was just 3 weeks old. He was the inspiration behind the Song, "His Other Mother." He sings along with Tamar on that song.

Tamar and Katrina have always tried to fill their home with music and instill the importance of music in each of their children's lives. Each of their four children have been taught piano lessons by Katrina and have learned an additional instrument through school.
